| Alternative to dentures |

Dentures are the conventional solution to missing all of one's teeth. Although full dentures can provide a cosmetic solution to being without teeth, dental or tooth implants provide a much more stable base for dentures so that they do not move and are much more functional. In this way, patients are more comfortable with dental or tooth implants than they are with conventional dentures. When teeth are missing, the jawbone may deteriorate. Conventional dentures do not prevent the jawbone from melting away, and require that the dentures be relined periodically. Dental or tooth implants stop the bone from melting away, providing a much more pleasing appearance and significant improvement in chewing function compared to regular dentures.
